Autopsy reveals man allegedly shot by State House aide’s bodyguard suffered multiple gunshot wounds

Mohamed Keinan, a police officer attached to State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, is alleged to have shot Langat several times on Sunday night in Amboseli, Kawangware, after a dispute at a pool hall escalated.
A postmortem examination has confirmed that Amos Langat, who was allegedly shot dead by police officer Mohamed Yusuf Keinan, sustained seven gunshot wounds at close range.
Mohamed, a police officer attached to State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, is alleged to have shot Langat several times on Sunday night in Amboseli, Kawangware, after a dispute at a pool hall escalated.
His family revealed that he was shot four times in the stomach and three times in the chest.
Despite the gravity of the incident, Mohamed, who is reportedly hospitalised, has not been formally arrested. Detectives say he remains under police guard.
At Chiromo Funeral Parlour, as reported by Citizen TV, the grief-stricken family and friends gathered to receive the autopsy report. Among them were officers from the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), now investigating the case.
The report confirmed their worst fears; Langat suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
"Jamaa wetu amepigwa risasi ya kifua imepasua roho tumeona tukalia, tuko na mpango wa kupelekea nyumbani mtu wetu amekufa hivyo ..." Langat’s brother, Enoch Langat, said.
This closely translates to: Our person was shot in the chest, which pierced through the heart, and we saw and cried. We have plans to take him home as he is ours, and he died like that.
"Alikuwa amepigwa risasi kadhaa kwa tumbo, mimi mwenyewe nikihesabu ilikuwa around saba (He was shot severally on the stomach, i counted the bullets and they were seven)," Langat’s friend, Joel Chemisto, added.
What started as a game of pool turned deadly, leaving Langat’s loved ones seeking answers and justice.
"Tunaomba serikali itusaidie. Amos ni kijana mdogo, ameoa juzi, ako na mtoto mdogo sana hata hajui nini inaendelea. So tunaomba tu usaidizi kama familia, kama rafiki pia, nasisidiza tusaidiwe Amos apate haki yake," Chemisto pleaded.
This closely translates to: We are asking the government to help us. Amos was a young man, and he recently got married and has a very young child who doesn't even know what is happening. So, as family and friends, we are asking for help for Amos to get justice.
As Langat’s family finalises plans to transport his body to Bureti, Kericho County, they remain uncertain about the burial date but firm in their call for justice.
Meanwhile, Mohamed has yet to be taken into custody. He checked himself into a local hospital, citing hand and shoulder injuries.
Detectives confirm he is under police guard as they await a medical report, which could determine the next steps in the case.
